FLORA
The gentle climate of the green islands of Ugljan-Pasman archipelago is seen in its richness of plant types. Because of the typical climate plants from the South can be grown. Here grow agaves, palm trees, cypress, mirth and mimosa, fig trees, lemon and mandarin trees. Vegetation is typical Mediterranean, with some preserved pine forest, mostly on the uninhabited Southwestern shore. The rest is mainly covered with Mediterranean scrub forest (makija) and partly with olive trees. Only a small part is used for agriculture, mainly vegetable production, especially on the far north of Ugljan, with only larger flat areas on the archipelago. Thick pinewoods around Kukljica became the green belt that protects the village and the harbour from the north wind. Today the thick pinewoods are the symbol of both islands and a valuable asset in its tourist development. The vegetation on the islands is growing luxuriant during all seasons and the state of vegetation makes the climate better. The culmination of vegetation is in the springtime when most plants flourish. The most beautiful months on the islands are from March until June, because of the mild temperatures, richness of flourishing vegetation and the aromatic scents in the air.

FAUNA
It is very particular that on the Ugljan-Pasman archipelago there are no vipers, even though there are snakes and lizards. On the island there is small game (wild rabbits) and lots of feathered game (settled pheasant), while from the birds of prey here live the falcon and the hawk. Among the farm animals the most spread are goats. Because of the indebtedness the sea that waters the coastline of the island is extremely rich with plant and animal life. Endless currents between the bays give the sea special clearness and limpidness, cleanliness and sheerness. In our seas live different types of fish and crabs, mussels, snails and different types of marine flora. Possidonia oceanica is the excellent biological witnesses of the state of our seas in which it lives
